The Three Sample of Autobiography EssayThe three samples of autobiography essays, as written by the great American novelists, have been selected to illustrate the popular theme in the different volumes of essays about people. They are George Eliot's 'As I Please' (on George Eliot), H. D. Blystone's 'The Lion by the Pond' (on H. D. Blystone), and Sinclair Lewis' 'Tallulah's Mother' (on Sinclair Lewis).All three of these novels are extremely famous. Each of them concentrates on one person, whose story they tell. Often the stories of individuals are part of a broader theme. In all cases, the narratives are wonderful, and there is an element of humour which characterises their importance.George Eliot's story of Edith Braddon's story of Rachael is a highly distinctive version of this theme. It begins with Edith's telling her side of the story, after the narrator has told her mother's story, in order to correct the mother's false statement. It is a beautifully done example of autobiography writing in the true sense.As is customary in autobiography writing, 'Tallulah's Mother' begins with a description of what her husband did for the family, and concludes with what she remembers of his experiences during the war, and the days before the war. H. D. Blystone's account starts off with a lengthy description of how his mother met him, and follows that up with a long, detailed account of her own life.From then on, the narrator talks about the sad story of his life with great emotion, describing the family in detail, the mother and father, the older sisters, and how they all passed away. Both of these autobiographies combine very useful autobiographical information with very important news of the time.The third sample, Sinclair Lewis' 'Tallulah's Mother', is in many ways unique. Although the material is mainly autobiographical, it is part of a larger autobiography, in which all of the characters are included, even the ones who died during the war.The author describes his fam ily's life from his childhood to his death, as well as his experiences of the war, and how he missed his mother, and friends. It is the best essay about the life of a whole family.It is interesting to consider that the great novelist Charles Dickens used a version of this particular theme as the central theme of the last part of Oliver Twist. Of course, this form of autobiography is not intended to be comprehensive. Any story is possible in which the writer tells of all of the person's life, and then the end of the story begins with a description of what has happened since.
